Bay Area Green Business
WE are proud to announce that NCTPA is the first Congestion Management Agency (CMA) in the Bay Area to achieve 'Green Certification.' NCTPA has demonstrated its commitment to the environment by saving energy and water, reducing solid waste and promoting pollution prevention.
How NCTPA Became Green
Some actions taken to become Green Business Certified include reducing the number of light fixtures within the office, upgrading lighting to energy efficient bulbs, purchasing recycled content office supplies and 35% post consumer recycled content paper. NCTPA has also signed up with Napa Recycling and Waste Services to be a part of a food compost pilot program. In addition, employees make a conscience effort to save or reduce power consumption by powering down office equipment when not in use, turning off lights when leaving their workspace for any extended period of time and using alternative forms of transportation.
Green Business Program
The Green Business Program is a Bay Area-wide program administered by the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG). The County of Napa's Department of Environmental Management (DEM) coordinates the Green Business Program in conjunction with Napa County Transportation and Planning Agency. Currently there are more than 55 Green Certified Businesses in Napa County. These businesses have gone above and beyond "business as usual" by implementing best business practices that produce healthier work environments and a more livable community. If you would like more information about environmentally preferable practices, the Green Business Program, 'green' events or promotions please visit www.greenbiz.ca.gov or call Danielle Sinclair (707) 259-5968.
